A CHANCE MEETING with actor Laurence Fishburne led to him reading, and liking, Ben Arogundade's
debut novel, The Sexual Language Of Strangers.
ACTOR LAURENCE FISHBURNE has put his weight behind the debut novel of Ben Arogundade, author of the book, Black Beauty (a cultural history of the black aesthetic within society).
Fishburne, star of The Matrix trilogy, met Arogundade during a visit to London, where the pair were introduced by mutual friend Ozwald Boateng, the Savile Row tailor, for whom Fishburne is a client.
Arogundade slipped Fishburne an early draft of the unpublished manuscript for The Sexual Language Of Strangers — at that time called Loveless. When Fishburne returned to LA he read it in one sitting. “Brilliant. Inspirational. Flawless,” he called it. So impressed was he by the story that he voice recorded an extract of the manuscript, which was played over the intercom to patrons at the London launch. Arogundade has published the title under his own digital imprint, Arogundade Books.
